83% of Democrats, 86% of Independents, and 82% of Republicans back resolution

Polling released Monday, September 28, by IMEU Policy Project and conducted by Data For Progress found that US voters overwhelmingly support a new resolution from Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), backed by 23 senators, to invoke Section 502b of the Foreign Assistance Act to force a vote requesting a State Department review of Israel’s actions in the West Bank.

84% of all voters, including 83% of Democrats and 82% of Republicans, support a State Department review of cases where US citizens are believed to have been harmed or killed by Israel’s military or Israeli settlers. 72% of all voters, including 75% of Democrats and 65% of Republicans, support the resolution’s demand for a review of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. The polling sampled over 1,202 voters from September 17-21 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.

      • 55% support arresting Israeli government and military personnel who enter the US

    • 71% of voters say the US government should press for the release of 20-year-old American citizen Sama Safi, who is currently being held in an Israeli prison, even if the Israeli government disagrees
