Chuck Him Out

Free, unsolicited advice for Chuck Schumer from thousands of people who’ve signed a petition and added their own comments.

There is nothing new about Democrats assisting the Republican agenda, forgoing opportunities to block disastrous legislation on procedural votes, and then making a show of “opposing” bills on a final vote, or openly supporting them while claiming to nonetheless be “against the bill” but afraid of something worse.

There is nothing new about lying, scheming warmongers and Zionists parroting Israeli propaganda long after its thorough debunking, as a sort of pseudo-excuse for ongoing mass murder.

But there is something new about large numbers of people calling out Democrats like Chuck Schumer on his charades. There is something new about other Democrats in Congress calling him out. This is a positive development to be taken advantage of.

Chuck’s advisors are paid good money to advise him to support a “strong Republican Party” as good for the United States, and to talk about how well he can work with his Republican buddies while exercising in the gym on Capitol Hill. (Does he check their ear buds for Nazi tunes? I doubt it.)

All I have to offer Chuck is free, unsolicited advice. But it comes from thousands of people who’ve signed a petition and added their own comments. The petition itself reads:

To Senator Chuck Schumer:

You need to resign as leader of the Democrats in the Senate. Your aiding of the Republican agenda is not new, but the times have changed. The public is taking this thing seriously and carefully watching the pretenses. It is not enough right now to make a show of disagreeing. We need an actual opposition committed to halting Trump’s destruction. Step aside.

Here is a sampling of the comments that people have added to that, as a free service to this country and the world:

Americans are really hurting right now. I am an elderly person dependent on my Social Security checks and Medicare. Musk and Trump are actively trying to destroy Social Security and Medicare. I am frightened and your determination to be complicit in this Republican driven destruction of our democracy and society is inexcusable and makes me feel powerless and unsafe. Shame on you!

A failure to draw the line and support the majority of Dems who were willing to thwart the unlawful coup we see in Trump and his Republican minions was beyond disappointing. I have respected your leadership in the past but this is the end for me.

Although I have been a registered independent for more than 6 years, the Democrats still act like I am a Democrat because they are constantly asking for money. This unwillingness to stand up and be ready to tell autocrats that they cannot get what they want is exactly the reason I am an independent. If this is leadership……well, I have certainly seen enough of it.

A typically gutless and unprincipled move by a predictably corporatist -a.k.a. ‘centrist’- Democrat. He’s got his, and the rest of us will simply have to fight for the best deal we can get, if any. Thanks for selling us down the river, Chucky!

A new leader who is willing to do bold things that will go viral daily is needed.

A new, perilous world of Trump & co’s blistering attack on all Americans hold dear about our nation demands new approaches and new leadership. Thanks for the many good moves you’ve made during your Senate career, Mr. Shumer. Please resign your post and Make Way for younger Democratic Party leaders with newer ideas and actions. Many thanks, sir.

Acceding to bullies is absolutely wrong! The Democrats need a spine now! What this country needs is a REAL [expletive deleted] opposition party!’

A true leader has a spine, and stands up for the people when they are oppressed. A leader does not capitulate when facing difficulty.

Actually, it would have hurt the Republicans to be seen as humming up the works. But that’s not the point. By permitting enormous tax breaks at the upper levels and enormous destruction below, to Medicaid and food support, you are actively making our country much worse. Beyond a certain point, there’s no recovery from an oligarchy. You’ve claimed to be ‘a light to Israel.’ Please try to be a light to the US.

Add to his far-too-lame-opposition to the Republican Agenda, a contributing factor to Kamala’s loss was his (and therefore, the Party’s) support for the IDF’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza (and the West Bank). He’s been more focused on blocking Bernie and the Progressives than he has on blocking Republicans.

Aiding the Republican agenda is aiding Fascism. Trump should not be supported, he needs to be impeached. He is a Fascist and will destroy our democracy if left to his own devices. He’s a criminal who’s operating on Hitler’s playbook and must be impeached!

ALL CORPORATE DEMOCRATS NEED TO GO.

All the horror that is happening, cannot be countered by squeamish Democrats!!!

All things must come to an end. It’s time to resign. Immediately.

All waffle isn’t much of a resistance.

Almost everyone in Washington is insane, totally out of touch with what is happening outside your world.

Also asking Gary Peters to resign … so incredibly disappointed in my senator (Michigan). Carrying water for MAGA is not what I expect from Democrats!!

Although I have been a fan of yours for most of your career, I now find myself agreeing wholeheartedly with the sentiments of this petition. You have lost your conviction and your fire! I align 100% with the positions of Justice Democrats as the only way to move forward in this crisis. Don’t wait until it is too late–don’t be another Joe Biden! Make way for newer, younger Progressives who more accurately reflect the needs and opinions of your non-billionaire constituents.

An extension of the budget would have been the way to go. Your move hurt the whole country.

An irresponsible betrayal.

And please take Dick Durbin with you.

Anyone who negotiates with or appeases fascists needs to leave office immediately. The opposition needs new fighters, not old relics.

Appalling! We need dems with backbones–who will stand up and fight.

Appeasement and acquiescence are the tools of cowards. We need fierce resistance and leadership. Sadly you haven’t measured up to the challenge of these times. Please retire.

Appeasement has never worked with fascists. Stop being complicit in our current president’s destruction of democracy.

Appeasing the current GOP and Administration is hurting our Nation! Dem ‘leaders’ should be OPPOSING every Nasty, Hurtful and Ridiculous act and action that goes against ‘We The People’! Schumer has lost his mind and backbone and is now representing himself, NOT the Nation!

As a 78 year old, I think it’s time for a change.

As a shill for corporations, conservatives, and the military industrial complex, enough is enough. You stand for the status quo, and we see the backlash that has wrought. With your six figure salary, and the benefits packaged you’ve bestowed upon yourself and other members of Congress, you should head for the egress.

As if green-lighting the destruction of American institutions and democracy are not shameful enough, Schumer is labeling everyone who feels that Israel is wiping out the Palestinian people as anti-Semitic. As a New Yorker, Chuck has lost my vote.

As the Onion says, Schumer helps pull democrats back from the brink of courage.

At a time we need new, dramatic leadership in Congress, you are great but of the past. We need table banging senators and represetatives to get the attention of our disagreement of Musk and Trump’s lies which never get corrected. The speech at the Justice Department needed a fact check immediately after trump’s lies, one after the other, yesterday. Only after a congressman shouted about the Social Security plans to cut telephone availability for citizens with questions, commented on SS lies and plans to privatize, banging on the table did Musk/Trump back down. NO! is needed in these noise times. You are too polite and do not get heard. AOC is what we need today.

At some point the democratic party has to stand up and protect working class people.

At this time Democrats need strong leadership, and Senator Schumer does not have the skills or ability to lead.
