Former President Obama says he is concerned about the state of our democracy. He should be. His policies while in office deepened this crisis.

He continued the Bush wars in Afghanistan and Iraq that violated the Constitution, international law and the U.N. Charter.
He began or continued illegal regime wars in Syria, Libya, Ukraine, Sudan, and Somalia. He applied sanctions, which are an act of war, against Venezuela and other nations, and aided Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen that created a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. These actions killed and displaced more than 40 million people.
Despite receiving the Nobel Peace prize, he advocated upgrading and modernizing our nuclear weapons system. This will cost more than one trillion dollars and worsen the threat of nuclear war.
He bailed out Wall Street financiers who helped create the Great Recession of 2008, allotting 700 million dollars of public money to keep the banks afloat, and approved moving seven trillion dollars to the Federal Reserve to assist non-American banks. At the same time, 7.8 million Americans lost their homes to foreclosure and millions lost their jobs.
He blocked a single-payer, Medicare-for-All system. This left millions without health insurance, which has led to the deaths of thousands each year.
During his tenure, he detained or deported roughly 3 million immigrants.
He provided weapons, intelligence, and economic support to Israel as it conducted massacres against innocent and unarmed Palestinians in Gaza — many of them women and children. He has never condemned Israeli genocide there.
Obama, the ‘hope and change’ president, paved the fascist road upon which Donald Trump now rides.
